The exterior in 2016...
Here is a picture from 2011 that I took well before I started my journey in retail. Like most Walmart's I've been to this one seems to do good business and was busy during my visit here. This is the first Walmart I've been to that scans everyone's receipt with a handheld scanner and then scans random items in your cart to verify if you bought those items. It's sad that they have to do this but from working several years at a different Walmart I can say that people will steal anything they can get their hands on. There's room for future expansion here with space on both side of the building if Walmart so desires. Well that's a wrap from the Walmart Supercenter in Selma, CA! I have store tours from Supercenters in Tulare and Fresno, CA still to post at some point here on the blog. You can find me on Flickr by clicking here

You did mention it was a town issue when it came to them leaving the exterior the same. Do you suppose that was also the case with them actually physically expanding the building too? They should probably consider revisiting the planning board if they wanted to do that.
ReplyDeleteYes at the time the town voted down Walmart's plan to build a new store and knock this one down. Since then Walmart seems content to keep this store open in it's current state as there haven't been any new plans to demolish/renovate this location submitted to the city. California hasn't always been friendly to Walmart but times have changed and towns now realize how much tax money they will receive from Walmart.
