Sears #1318 Bakersfield, CA Closing Update!

This is a update of my original post on this location that you can find Here. This Sears location is set to close in January 2019. It was announced with the other 141 locations that Sears is closing as part of their bankruptcy filing in October 2018. It is located in the busy Valley Plaza. On my follow up visit this store was very busy but still had most lots of merchandise available with very little empty space. They did put some store closing signs up but they are on a side entrance that leads to Fitness/Christmas area and not on the main store front.

This store was vary busy during this visit with almost every cash register open with people in line waiting to be serviced. This store spans two floors and is the biggest Sears I've ever been inside of. It's sad that other than a Sears Outlet store on White Ln after this store closes Sears/Kmart will not have much presence in this area. There is a high grossing Kmart in Tehachapi that will stay open but a new Walmart nearby will open in 2019 so it's fate is in jeopardy as well. I will be visiting this store again before it closes for good so be on the lookout for another closing update from this location!

Kmart #3582 Clovis, CA Closing Update!

It was announced on August 22, 2018 that the Kmart in Clovis, CA was closing. I originally covered the store on blog earlier this month that you can view here here. This store will close forever on November 26, 2018. I was lucky enough to visit this store on November 21. At this point in the liquidation sale there wasn't much left but clothing and Health & Beauty products. Most of the interior of the store has been dismantled and empty and blocked off. I took quite a few photos so lets get started!

Well that will do it for this closing Kmart tour from Clovis, CA. I will visit after closing to get pictures of the vacant building. I will be visiting the closing Kmart's in Lemoore, Delano, Visalia and the Sears in Bakersfield hopefully before they close forever as well. Every employee that I came in contact with here was upbeat and seemed happy to still be working and helping the customers with whatever they needed. I fear that this will be the last holiday season the Kmart/Sears as a whole will ever have. I guess we shall see what the new year will bring us.
