Kmart #3842 Oakdale, CA Closing Store Tour!

This is the Kmart location in Oakdale, CA that will be closing in January 2020. This location was part of the "unofficial" closing list that was leaked online in September 2019. This Kmart is located in a town that is a few miles NE of Modesto and is the last Kmart in Stanislaus County. On my visit here the liquidation sales had just started and the employees were still putting new freight up on the shelves. If this location ever had a Pharmacy or Auto Center I couldn't find any trace of it in the store and the K Cafe/Little Ceasers has been gone for some time. This location still has the Big K signage outside. The Customer Service area is to the left after you enter next to the former K Cafe/Little Ceasers and the front registers to the right.

The clothing departments are located along the left wall and to the right in the middle of the store. The fitting room is along the left wall about half way before the back of the store

The baby section is in the back left corner with the men's clothing next to it and the shoe section across from it

The toy section in this store is split into two different locations as the bikes and some toys are located along the back wall next to the sporing goods and the rest of the toys along the right wall along the garden center. The Sporting goods/tools and auto sections are next to the back garden center entrance. This portion of the garden center is being used as the fixture section. The Layaway/restroom area is along the back wall behind the sporting section. This is the toy section along the back wall

The front garden center section is full of summer items and pools. The doors leading to the fenced patio and the main garden center entrance are blocked by pallets of freight

The front left corner is being used as the seasonal area. This was the electronics area at one point

The appliances area is along the front wall between seasonal and health & beauty with the food pantry located across from it

One last shot of this closing Kmart. I have plans to revisit this location a few more times before it closes for good. This was a well maintained and stocked location and it's a shame it's closing. One employee I was talking to said this store does great in sales and it was a complete surprise when the announcement came. I really hope the this company as a whole can turn things around and become a successful company again but I just can't see that happening at this point. The next closest non-closing Kmart to Oakdale is in Concord, CA almost 75 miles away. I wish the employees here the best as they try to find new jobs so close to Christmas/New Year's.
